About the client

Our client is a software engineering and outsourcing company founded in 2017, building web, mobile, AI and automotive software for clients in Japan and the US. Its automotive teams work on embedded, AUTOSAR and Android Automotive projects.

The role

• Design, customise and develop components of the Android Audio Framework (AudioFlinger, AudioPolicy, AudioManager)
• Develop CarAudioService logic: audio zones and audio focus across navigation, media, calls and vehicle warnings
• Implement automotive volume and mute management
• Develop and maintain the Audio HAL (HIDL/AIDL) with driver and DSP teams
• Implement multi-source audio priority for navigation, music, phone and notifications

The successful applicant

• 2–5 years of hands-on Android Framework (Audio Service) or embedded Android development
• Strong Java and C++; able to read and work in AOSP source code
• Understanding of Android system architecture and the audio stream lifecycle down to the Audio HAL
• Knowledge of CarAudioService and in-vehicle audio handling
• Design patterns and UML
• Nice to have: Audio HAL and Audio Policy XML, media apps, Logcat/dumpsys/QACT, JIRA, Git/Gerrit, Agile
