MRT Civil Design Coordination Engineer (English–Vietnamese)

About the client

An established railway engineering company from China with several years of operations in Hanoi, now growing its Ho Chi Minh City office to support large railway and infrastructure projects in Vietnam. The HCMC team is expected to grow from about 23 to around 45 people next year. The role sits in the design team for an MRT line in Vietnam, now in the post-FEED (detailed design) phase.

The role

• Help prepare and check MRT civil and architectural drawings, technical reports and project documents
• Work with independent checkers and the client's representatives to close review comments and obtain approvals
• Make sure drawings and reports are translated accurately from English into Vietnamese; check translations from external agencies
• Track every submission: submitted, reviewed, returned, revised, approved
• Follow up with the design office so drawings and documents are complete and on time
• Report progress to the Team Leader and Design Manager
• Handle urgent translation, revision and approval requests
• Note: this is a design coordination and approvals role, not a construction-site role

The successful applicant

• Degree in civil or structural engineering; able to read structural and architectural drawings (architecture graduates are not a fit for this role)
• Experience on an MRT, metro or urban railway project, ideally in design or approval; structural engineers without metro experience will also be considered
• Strong technical English and Vietnamese: reading, writing, translating and proofreading engineering documents (Chinese not required)
• Experience managing technical drawings, submissions, revisions and review comments
• Preferred: post-FEED / detailed design experience, independent checking and Vietnam railway submission procedures
• Advantage: work with Chinese or international engineering consultants, Hanoi or HCMC metro projects, document control systems

• Gross salary VND 30–50 million per month, depending on experience and qualifications
